MedGrocer Donates Php19k of Medicines to UP PsychSoc’s Medical Mission
October 24, 2015 — MedGrocer, the online pharmacy for trusted drugs delivered to customers’ doorsteps, supported the UP Psychology Society’s Medical-Dental Mission today by donating Php19,407.50 worth of medicines.
The donation included essential medicines such as amoxicillin, paracetamol, and allopurinol. It also carried hypertension medicine like metoprolol, nifedipine, and felodipine for the seniors in the community. “[MedGrocer’s] catalog of medicines was all-around, ensuring that everyone’s needs (including ours) were met,” commented Fretelin David, medical mission head of UP PsychSoc.
The generous value of the donation is because of MedGrocer’s donation program for medical missions. According to Deirdre Conde, marketing manager for MedGrocer, a total of Php6,000 was crowd-funded through their Double Your Donation program. “[Thanks to the program,] we were able to aid more patients,” said Fretelin. The patients were residents of Village East in Cainta, Rizal.
With the medicines were MedGrocer’s customary drug information sheets. “We don’t just medicate and donate, we also make sure to educate patients with easy-to-understand instructions,” explained Deirdre. The sheets typically cover the guidelines on the how’s and when’s of each drug, but the two organizations collaborated to translate the information to Filipino for better understanding.
The medicines were dispensed according to prescriptions given by volunteers from UP College of Medicine’s Mu Sigma Phi Sorority.
